Wind power in Finland

Wind energy forecasts in Finland

Wind power growth curves forecast continuing dynamic growth globally. Although the global economic downturn makes short term forecasting difficult, WWEA predicts that wind power will be an attractive long-term investment due to the global demand for clean and reliable energy production.

The Finnish wind power capacity target for 2020 is set at 2500 MW, which is likely to be met by the year 2018-2019. During 2014, 59 new wind turbine generators were installed and 184MW was added to existing wind power generation. The figures for 2015 will be greater, with a predicted 100 new turbines and approximately 300 MW of new capacity.
